About Us

Our Identity, Our Philosophy.

Your Oasis of Relaxation in the green, Euganean Hills View

The building is characterised by floor-to-ceiling windows, which makes it particularly recognisable from the street. Originally built as a barn and tool shed, it has undergone a complete renovation over the years, which we have personally overseen. We have taken great care starting from the choice of natural materials such as stone, wood, lots of glass and steel for the load-bearing structures, all the way to the entire design of the energy control, home automation and lighting systems.

In addition to the garden, which we aim to keep well-kept, we have a vegetable garden and an orchard area, still young, but already providing us with some fruit for your breakfast jams. It is very important to us to protect our environment. Therefore, we don’t use any harmful chemicals, which may adversely affect nature as well as humans, animals and especially bees.

Our guests have at their disposal:

  • a 3,000 m2 garden for enjoyment
  • relaxation area in the garden with dining table, chairs, loungers
  • the living room area where breakfast is served in the morning, with the sofa and board games
  • the little garden with aromatic plants
  • secure outdoor parking
  • Free Wi-Fi throughout and garden
  • our assistance with recommendations about places to visit, like wineries, oil mills, cities and towns as well as any upcoming events in the area.

About us

Two hearts and a barn… turned into a Bed & Breakfast!

Let us introduce ourselves: we are Elisa and Jean-Marc.

We are lovers of tranquillity and greenery, of ‘homemade’ food and good company.

We have been working in the thermal tourism sector for over 20 years and are passionate about it. A few years ago, the idea of opening our own Bed & Breakfast took shape. We wanted to create a peaceful and relaxing space with beautiful gardens, for guests who are interested to get to know our truly wonderful Euganean thermal area.

Another important family member is Asia. She is a wonderful friendly dog, who loves her cuddles and will make sure you always get a friendly welcome to our house.

A curiosity: why the name ‘Il Filo Rosso’?

One name, one goal: to make you fall madly in love with Abano and the Euganean Hills!

Although we are in love with our region, we have a passion for Japan and its traditions. Hence the name of our Bed & Breakfast.

The legend of the Red Thread of Destiny says that each of us is born with an invisible red thread tied to the little finger of our left hand. This thread binds us inextricably to the person we are destined for: our soul mate.

Hence our goal for those who come to stay at Il Filo Rosso: to help you experience a holiday that makes you feel closely connected to our Place of the Heart and our territory. We wanted to create place that feels like a home away from home.

We endeavour this philosophy with our hospitality, our spaces, our breakfast and advice on what to do, where to go and what to taste.

And we hope that the experiences of this holiday will be linked by a red thread (fil rouge) of positive and impressionable experiences.

We are looking forward to welcome you at Il Filo Rosso!

Elisa, Jean-Marc ….and of course Asia 🐾

Environmental Sustainability

We have tried to adopt environmentally friendly solutions, choosing natural and ecological materials, using low-energy lighting and installing a photovoltaic system.

The choice of the type of plaster and paint was also considered: quicklime plaster absorbs carbon dioxide and other toxins, while the paints used are free of chemical additives.

We do our best to avoid waste, both in terms of energy resources and food, and our effort is to reduce plastic consumption. We ask our guests to share this goal, which is only achievable with everyone’s help.

The plants chosen for the borders and hedges, more than for aesthetic reasons, were planted for the bees: hearing them on the flowers in spring is a sign of hope. You just have to be a little careful not to disturb them while they are ‘working’.
